Parent Company to Black Dandelion: Convergent Voice™
Health Collectors™ is a limited liability corporation founded by the married duo James Brown, MD, a Board Certified, award winning Family Physician and Semaj Brown, a literary and performing artist, science educator, and curriculum builder. The mission of Health Collectors™ is to promote wellness and better health through innovative, integrated art/science programming. Health Collectors™ grew from the community service of the private medical practice of Dr. James Brown with Semaj Brown as Director of Community Outreach.

Our Story
In 2008, Health Collectors LLC, also legally known as BLACK DANDELION, a limited liability corporation was cofounded by the married duo James Brown, MD, a Board-Certified, award-winning Family Physician, and Semaj Brown, an award-winning educator and literary artist. Semaj Brown began her Fint literacy intervention in 2006 as Director of Community Outreach for James Brown, MD PLC, medical practice of Dr. James Brown. Ms. Brown discovered patients’ children, as well as employees, were having difficulty reading.
Health Collectors organized and sponsored three Health Community Conferences between 2006-2008. They traversed the radio ways with an “Ask the Doctor Show “ on WFLT and the “Dr. James Brown Freedom From Fat” Family Variety Show” on Cumulus. Mrs. Semaj Brown conceived The Planted Kingdom Project™ which yielded a story cookbook and CD, Feasts and Fables from the Planted Kingdom, a 4-month program for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Flint, “Creating a Vegetable Consciousness: Understanding Plants and Vegetables through Music, Art, Theater, Craft Work, and Science, Theatrical Comedy, “Onion Revolt!” The yielding of over a decade of Ms. Brown workshopping in schools, churches and community centers; Butterfly Budling, A Women’s empowerment program where the metamorphosis of the butterfly mirrors female manifestation; a Pop-Up Science Laboratory at Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, and more.
